The width of bit is measured in between the rings. It is of utmost importance that you chose the right thickness for your bit. A narrow bit can be irritating in the corners of his mouth and a thicker bit can be uncomfortable in the mouth. The thickness of a bit is measured roughly at 1 cm from the rings.
